Trade magazine Computable has nominated five ICT projects in education for the Computable Awards 2018. They are projects at Vechtdal College, HU University of applied sciences and ROC Aventus, an initiative of the FutureNL foundation and finally the project Studybits. About the latter, Kees Hakvoort, manager of professional services at ICreative, wrote the jury report.

A group of a total of thirteen Computable experts evaluated 28 nominations in the ICT Project of the Year in Education category. Based on their grades, the top ten were invited to the jury deliberation last May 9, 2018, and five nominees emerged from that. "I always find it interesting to see what innovations companies in other sectors have. These kinds of cross-industry innovations also provide another fresh perspective for ICreative," Kees says of his rationale for contributing to Computable Awards.

Kees Hakvoort: "I always find it interesting to see what innovations companies in other sectors have.

As a member of the jury, Kees bent over the nominated project "Studybits. The idea behind this is to record degrees, certificates, credits and other proof of learning in a blockchain. Students and alumni can then decide with whom he or she wants to share the data, anywhere in the world. 'This solution can significantly improve the verification problem in education. In doing so, students get/have self-determination over which information is shared with which parties without being dependent on third parties,' Kees stated in his jury report. 'The project approach involves clear steps with parties who actually have an interest in a working and innovative solution.'

On July 5, the voting process for the Computable Awards 2018 starts for the market. The public vote counts for 50 percent, with the jury verdict determining the other 50 percent. On Oct. 30, the winners of each category will be announced.
