Basware Connect Solutions points the way to the cloud

Basware Connect Solutions points the way to the cloud

Embrace the future and don't run away from change. That was the overall message at Basware Connect Solutions in Utrecht on June 20, 2018. After the user meeting, it was clear that the path from old technology to new technology is slowly but surely getting easier.

At Basware Connect Solutions 2018, visitors were able to see what is possible with the latest technologies and there was a special focus on Basware's cloud solution Alusta SaaS. "The most important change is in conforming to technology standards," noted Freek Peters. He shared his experiences at GrandVision. In the cloud, he said, there is a lot to configure, but true customization beyond the given capabilities is difficult in the cloud.

Staying with the standard offers many advantages in terms of continuity. This way you can easily keep up with new developments and possibilities. Moreover, it forces you to take a critical look at what is really necessary. What functionalities do you really need for automated processing and compliance, and what is nice to have?" said Peters. He further argues that in the cloud you are rewarded. 'The usability on both desktop and mobile is very nice and that increases adoption within the organization.'

GrandVision is currently rolling out Basware around the world and has yet to hear any discord. 'We are doing this together with ICreative and are very pleased with their flexible attitude. They scale up or down as we ask.'

Man and machine

Basware Connect Solutions offered attendees a highly varied program. In addition to real-life stories from GrandVision and Pon Logistics, there were demos and motivational speakers. Gina Balarin, author of the book "The secret army," encouraged participants to inspire those around them. Companies need to take care of three types of people: the executives who need to inspire change, the foot soldiers who do the work and the customers.

According to her, happiness is the key to success. 'Happy customers deliver more return on investment. An unhappy employee costs a company roughly 33 thousand euros, while a happy employee brings a company more than 18 thousand euros,' Balarin knows. This is hidden in an employee's productivity, better customer service, sickness rates, the number of mistakes employees make and the ease with which employees can be recruited. 'Happiness is contagious. Be a carrier," Balarin advised.

Ecosystem

'All tasks that we can predict and are repetitive are going to be automated in the future,' futurologist Richard van Hooijdonk reaffirmed what Basware users have long known. The idea is not to put people out of work with this. But it is about the cooperation between man and machine. The financial role is changing, that's for sure. The finance department of the future is an ecosystem; it is the only way to accelerate.

The presentations at Basware Connect Solutions made tangible that new technology offers efficiency opportunities, unburdens and improves processes. Companies that don't keep up now are unintentionally, automatically falling behind. The work of finance departments is going to change. I cannot predict where exactly the blows will fall. Companies must therefore start managing future uncertainties,' said Van Hooijdonk.
