Hospital Rivierenland (ZRT) is a regional hospital in Tiel with two outpatient clinics in Culemborg and Beneden Leeuwen. As a regional hospital, it faces the task of providing high-quality care in the region under pressure from a rising demand for care. This under the motto of the right care, at the right time, in the right place and in line with the "Negotiating Agreement Medical Specialist Care 2019-2022.

Joost Brugman, head of financial administration says, "There is quite a lot in store for us in the area of ICT and automation in the coming period. We are in the process of bringing the entire application landscape up to standard. Many of our applications were and are end-of-life, including our invoice processing system Basware Invoice Processing. Our Electronic Patient File and ERP package are also due for replacement.'

Cloud migration

To replace Basware Invoice Processing, Basware Alusta SaaS, Basware's cloud application, was chosen. 'Our policy is to neatly fulfill our payment obligations once deliverables are in place,' says Brugman. 'We always pay within the specified payment period. In doing so, we strive to efficiently implement accounts payable entry and monitoring. Also, it should be relatively little effort for the budget holders to handle this task.'

Basware partner ICreative helped ZRT migrate to the cloud. Brugman is very pleased with the collaboration process. ICreative met our needs very well and gave us the right considerations on the basis of which we could make choices. All compliments for looking into the processes in a positively critical manner; for thinking along and placing themselves in the role that administration plays in a hospital.

Functionality

At the locations in Tiel and Culemborg, patients can attend consultations for most specialties; in Beneden Leeuwen for neurology, cardiology and gynecology. For these activities, ZRT purchases syringes, prostheses, hygiene items, company clothing and other facility items from over a thousand suppliers. Thus, incoming invoices from these suppliers have recently been handled in Basware Alusta SaaS. "Thanks to this system, we are able to meet our payment obligations with relatively little effort and within the specified time frame." indicates Brugman. 

In the wake of emerging ERP implementation, ZRT is exploring further options for using Basware. 'Basware has much more functionality than we use now, such as full flow matching. We are not ready for this at this time, but this will certainly become a topic of discussion," Brugman predicts.
