Basware Professional Event 2020: Working through and staying connected

Don't let distance be a barrier to doing your job well and staying connected with partners and colleagues. That was the overall message of the first-ever Basware Professional Event online. "Today we are going to talk about remote working: what it means to work remotely and how Basware has successfully passed this new standard," host Peter Derksen said in his opening remarks.

'The global pandemic underscores that businesses do not always need physical office presence to function productively. For our Basware SaaS customers, the purchase-to-pay process continues as usual. Of course we are very proud of our product quality, but work is about more than getting results, it is also about relationships," says Peter Derksen.

Both Basware and ICreative are working on a number of new features that will enhance software capabilities. The online Basware Professional Event on Nov. 26 provided the perfect opportunity to share the developments with ICreative customers. In addition, it was a great opportunity to stay in touch with each other. Peter: "We at ICreative believe that we can maintain physical distance and still have meaningful interactions with each other.

Doing the presentations online and in English this year had the added advantage that customers from abroad could also attend. People from Belgium, Germany, Austria, Portugal and the Czech Republic, among others, participated.

Varied program

Vincent Wouters kicked off with an update on ICreative. He welcomed the new clients, including several English ones, and told how business initially stagnated in May but fortunately picked up strongly in the summer so that ICreative is still having a good year.

Emelie Steckel of Inter IKEA Systems b.v. spoke about the international rollout of Basware SaaS, zooming in on IKEA Supply AG in Switzerland, where they went from a manual to an automated invoice processing process. She also addressed the challenges posed by the pandemic.

There was, of course, plenty of focus during the event on new and upcoming features in Basware and ICreative add-ons. Taco Slob spoke about recent developments such as AP Pro, workload manager and Smartpdf. He also talked about Accrual Reporting, Power Users and Payment Plans. Among other things, Berjan van den Broek showed a solution that reduces the complexity of the approval matrix in Basware and demonstrated live the ICreative Procuration Manager.

The varied program concluded with Godelieve Meeuwissen, author of the books "Inspiring Remote Leadership" and "Keeping meaning in your work." She gave practical tips for keeping up with working from home. One of these was: no consultations before noon. She said the morning hours are especially suited for concentration, the afternoon hours for communication. "Many of my tips are open doors, but that doesn't mean people do them," said Godelieve Meeuwissen.

Next year's Basware Professional Event will be on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
