Basware receives Green Supply Chain Award

Basware has received the 2020 Green Supply Chain Award from international trade magazine Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "The environmental impact of invoicing is often overlooked in the supply chain," noted Basware CEO Klaus Andersen.

In addition to companies making sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy and working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own supply chains, the Green Supply Chain Award also recognizes suppliers of supply chain solutions and services that help their customers achieve these measurable sustainability goals.

As a software vendor, Basware is also keen to play its part in protecting the environment now and for our future generations. According to Basware's own research published in 2028, switching from paper invoices to electronic invoicing could result in 36 percent lessCO2 emissions. After all, the more automated the invoice processing process is, the less paper is needed.

Klaus Andersen: 'We believe that sustainability should be part of the daily routine and not an extra step. That's why we have recently introduced technology to help our customers make their invoice processing processes more sustainable.' For example, Basware recently introduced the Carbon Footprint Index dashboard, which allows customers to view theircarbon emissions per invoice and compare the index with similar companies. "We are demonstrating in this way how purchase-to-pay automation can really have a green impact and are honored to receive this award," Andersen said.
