Basware has launched a new chatbot feature in its e-procurement solution under the name Basware Assistant. The vendor announced this on May 21, 2018, at the American AP & P2P Conference & Expo in Orlando.
Basware Assistant is a virtual assistant that helps users find order requests and purchase orders more easily. The chatbot uses so-called natural language processing technology and artifictial intelligence (AI) to provide users with a new and simplified way to interact with Basware's e-procurement solution. They can interact with the Basware assistant as they would with a human and search for orders and requests by supplier name and product name as well as ID and document numbers.
By allowing people to specify their searches, they no longer have to navigate through a series of screens to find the specific order or purchase. Thanks to natural language processing, or the ability of a computer program to understand a human language, and AI capabilities, the virtual assistant improves the usability of the system. In addition to reducing the time to find purchase orders and order requests, it also reduces training time for new users.
